Rules for reading and using this independent informational journal.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of space-needle-seattle.icu (the “Site”), operated as 1962 Journal. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Informational purpose
1962 Journal publishes independent editorial content about Seattle architecture, Space Needle history, the 1962 World’s Fair (Century 21 Exposition), and related Pacific Northwest culture. The Site is an informational resource. It is not an official website for any attraction, venue, or tourism operator, and it does not sell tickets, bookings, or lodging.
2. No affiliation
References to the Space Needle, Seattle Center, Century 21, or other places and organizations are for journalism and commentary. Such references do not imply endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or agency.
3. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise noted, text, design, logos, and original compilation on the Site are owned by 1962 Journal or used under license. You may share links to our pages. You may not copy substantial portions of our essays for commercial republication without prior written permission.
Photographs may be sourced from stock providers (including Unsplash) or other licensed sources and remain subject to their respective licenses. Do not scrape media files for redistribution as your own inventory.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise the Site’s security
- Use automated scraping in a manner that degrades service or violates robots rules
- Misrepresent affiliation with 1962 Journal
- Use Site content to promote fraud, hate, or unlawful activity
- Insert malicious code or attempt unauthorized access to systems
5. Accuracy and no professional advice
We aim for careful historical and architectural writing, but the Site is provided “as is.” Content may contain errors or become outdated. Nothing on the Site is legal, engineering, travel, or financial advice. Verify critical facts with primary sources before relying on them.

8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, 1962 Journal and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site shall not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD $100) or the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 1962 Journal and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or violation of these Terms.
10. Privacy
Personal data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your understanding of how the Site operates.
11. Changes
We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version on this page and revising the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
12. Termination
We may suspend or restrict access to the Site at any time for maintenance, security, or misuse. Provisions that by nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive termination.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence require otherwise. Courts located in King County, Washington, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, subject to those mandatory protections.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
