About 1962 Journal
An independent English-language journal on Seattle’s vertical imagination.
1962 Journal is an independent informational publication about Seattle architecture, Space Needle history, the Century 21 Exposition, and Pacific Northwest cultural landscapes. We write long-form essays for readers who care about how cities remember themselves.
What we are
We are a content journal—not a ticket office, hotel desk, or tourism operator. The Space Needle and Seattle Center appear in our pages as subjects of design history and civic memory. Mentions of places, institutions, or landmarks are editorial, not commercial endorsements.
What we publish
- Architecture and skyline essays
- World’s Fair and Century 21 history
- Pacific Northwest modernism and visual culture
- Landscape notes on views, weather, and regional identity
Editorial stance
We favor primary historical context, careful description, and readable narrative over promotional language. We do not publish prices, booking funnels, or reservation forms. If you arrived looking for tickets, this is the wrong door—and that is intentional.
Independence
1962 Journal is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or operated on behalf of the Space Needle, Seattle Center, or any attraction management company. We are an independent informational resource on the open web.
